Why is a Positive Mental Attitude Important?

Motivational Quotes

To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe.” – Anatole France.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.” – Serenity Prayer

Cease to ask what the morrow will bring forth, and set down as gain each day that Fortune grants.” – Horace.

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That is why it is called present.” – Unkonwn

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain.

“Failure is blindness to the strategic element in events; success is readiness for instant action when the opportune moment arrives.”  – Newell D. Hillis.

“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with a wrong mental attitude” – Thomas Jefferson.

Attitude is everything. At the heart and core of personal development is mental attitude. Success or failure is largely determined by ones’ reaction to their environment. The ability to react is a result of your mentality.

How you react to adversity; your ability to grow and learn and your ability to overcome challenges are all factors that are largely influenced by your mental attitude.

What determines your success or failure is your attitude towards life. If you have a positive mental attitude you are more likely to succeed. That is why it is very important to keep a positive mental attitude.

For this reason, you will agree, that one of the most important personal assets to continuously make improvements on, is your mental attitude. If you want to achieve more, you must ensure that you work on improving your mental attitude.

It is the get way to life’s opportunities. How you react to different situations will determine what course of action you will take.

You may not realise it but, sometimes opportunities come and they pass you by, simply because of your negative way of thinking.

The most successful people are those that have a positive mentality even when they are faced with adversity. Yes, I know that sometimes it is very difficult to stay positive, but if you want to succeed you need to put on a positive mentality.

They say “the only disability in life is a bad mental attitude.” We all have weaknesses. I always say that we are all challenged in one way or the other. But, the only disability is having a bad mentality.

I have seen people who are physically challenged, yet are successful in life. A good example is one of my favourite preachers Nick Vujicic.

This is a man who is physically challenged yet with great charisma and a positive mental attitude towards life. I find his teachings amazing.

The reality with life is that we are solely responsible for forming our own attitudes. God has given us the authority and willpower to be in charge and be responsible for our own characters.

It Has an Effect on Your Life

Your attitude is usually formed over a period of time due to your life’s experiences. However, your reaction and actions towards any given situation are but your choice.

You have the power and will to choose how you are going to react to any given situation. Only you are in charge of the willpower to choose.

Your reaction towards life also has a bearing on both your long and short-term achievements. The negative reactions will usually delay your success rate and increase your failure rate.

What you want in life is to increase your chances of success, which can only be done with a positive attitude.

The more positive your attitude is the more increased your chances of success is.

Like I have said before that life is enjoyed when you triumph. Winning can be addictive just as losing can be demoralising.

It’s like in sport, the more you win, the more motivated you are and the more invincible you feel. However, the opposite is true, the more you lose the more demoralised you feel.

Am sure it takes more energy and a great attitude to reverse a losing streak in any situation.

The effects of having a positive way of thinking on your life is the ultimate feeling you should be aiming for. You have better self-esteem and your confidence is enhanced.

Confidence naturally reduces your stress levels and you develop a feel-good factor about yourself, that leads to more happiness. After all, the ultimate goal in life is to live a happy and healthy life.

It Can Help Boost Your Self-Esteem

As mentioned before having a positive attitude has many benefits among them is the improvement and boosting of your self-esteem.

The quality of your life and the way you feel about yourself are all linked to your mental attitude.

The more positive your mental attitude is, the better the quality of your life.

“Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.” – Brian Tracy.

If you think positively, you will feel happier. If you are negative, you’ll feel pretty dull. Boost your self-esteem by looking at yourself in a positive light and picking out the things you like about yourself. Also, turn any negative features or characteristics into positives.

People will always have an opinion about you, it’s important to not let what others think to bother you, and to really try not to worry yourself about what they think at all.

I have a personal rule, of not paying so much attention to things that I have no control of. One of which is that you will never have control of what people think or say about you. Make it a policy that they do not affect your happiness.

Always remember that everything action you take has consequences and it is basically a reflection of your inner being. Like I said before you have the willpower to make better choices.

As mentioned above attitudes are formed through experience. They are learnable. This means that both positive and negative mental attitudes have been learned over time. Just like anything else that can be learned they can also be unlearned.

According to a Stanford Research Institute study, the path to success is comprised of 88% attitude and only 12% education. This does not negate the importance of education but goes to show how vital a positive mental attitude is to success.

Self-esteem can only be boosted by unlearning the negative way of thinking and replacing it with a positive one.

It Can Improve Your Motivation

You are motivated when you are sure of yourself. Motivation is a product of having a positive outlook. Motivation is key to achieving your personal development and self-improvement.

When you are of good cheer, nothing can stand in your way. Yes, you will stumble but will turn adversity to your advantage. A person of good cheer will surely succeed in life because they will be razor-focused on achieving their goals.

“When you change the way you look at things; the things you look at change.” – Wayne Dyer.

Conclusion

“You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you.” – Brian Tracy.

Having a positive mental attitude is what you should be working towards achieving.

The Most Important Change Begins With You

Motivational Quotes

To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe.” – Anatole France.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.” – Serenity Prayer

Cease to ask what the morrow will bring forth, and set down as gain each day that Fortune grants.” – Horace.

Hillis.

The fact that you are still alive and still on this earth, going through what you are going through, I want you to know that God has a plan for you. Look around and dig deep inside you and begin to work on the inner you. If you have to succeed you have to know that the most important change begins with you. You possess all that you need to achieve your goals.

Stop complaining about how over weight you are, when you are eating anything that comes around and not going to to the gym. Don’t complain about the quality of your life if you are not doing anything to improve it. You have no right to complain about your pay when you are not not doing a thing to improve your skills. Change your mind and begin living a life of happiness.

Living happy is not a just an opportunity or a privilege. You have a responsibility to enjoy happiness. Decide and determine your own happiness.

You hold the key to change your life. Why are you complaining about how bad things are around you, If you are surrounding yourself with them? Begin by changing your mind and the way you look at things. Why are you complaining about the quality of friends you have when you entertain them?

Just because you have been invited doesn’t mean you have to attend. Just because someone has called you doesn’t  mean you have to call them back. If you are in a pub and someone is offering you alcohol doesn’t mean you have to consume it. You have the power to say no. Quit giving those lame excuses, you have the will power to do the right things.

Just because your homey’s are partying doesn’t mean you have to party. You have a responsibility to your own life. Just because you are down doesn’t mean you cannot get up. You will fall many times before you succeed. Just like like a baby falls many times when learning how to walk. Just because you have made mistakes in life doesn’t mean that’s the end of the world. Who does not make mistakes?

Change Your Mind and Change Your Life

If you are down, get up. Its time to make that important change and move your life to another level. Stop feeling pity for yourself. Yes, you are the reason why you are not employed. You are the one in that unhealthy relationship. But, what are you doing about it? You can change the way you feel by changing the way you think.

Self pity will only make you more miserable and sad. Self pity will not change anything; complaining will even compound your situation. Get a grip on your life by changing the way you think. Look, if you are not in control of your life someone else is. Someone else is making decisions for you; someone else is determining how much you should be paid.

When you change your mind set new doors begin to open up. You begin to write a whole new, better chapter of your life. You begin to possess the very things that you long for in your life. The talents, ideas, the gifts and imaginations you have all begin to come to life. Do not let your poverty mentality determine your destiny.

You begin to attract the very things that have eluded you before.  Look, God created you to succeed. Even before he created this world he had you in mind. Don’t allow your mind to be a stumbling block to your destiny. Do not be afraid of the unknown. If you can see the invisible you can do the impossible. Venture into the unknown and stop being afraid of the unfamiliar.

Your mind is the biggest asset and tool for improving your well being. It is in your mind that change is cultivated, nurtured and birthed. “Everything changes when you change” – Jim Rohn.

Why Important Change is Valuable

Change makes you break your cycle. It motivates you to look beyond your comfort zone. Change makes you venture into new dimensions of your life. It exposes you to things that you never would have experienced. With change you begin to look at life from a different perspective. Positive change makes you feel in control of your life.

I believe that positive transformation is a huge sign of ones personal growth. Not many people embrace change easily. It therefore, means that we must all strive to make positive transformation if we have to have an impact in our lives.

If you do not take the right steps to adapt, the world will leave you behind. After all we live in an ever changing environment. Those who succeed are those who embrace and harness change. Do not be shy from making positive changes in your life. The only way to keep improving your life is to keep on making positive changes. Those who succeed are those who are not scared to make and take bold decisions.

The world is not what it used to be 15 years ago. For example technology has tremendously evolved over the last decades. Take mobile phones, they have rapidly moved from analogue to digital. Now we have smart phones. Gone are the days when a phone was just used for voice calls only. Imagine how difficult it is for people who have resisted change.

Conclusion

The truth is that we can learn to condition our minds, bodies, and
emotions to link pain or pleasure to whatever we choose. By changing
what we link pain and pleasure to, we will instantly change our
behaviours
” – Tony Robbins.

Be the change you would like to see in the world. Fear not your inadequacies. Learn from your past experiences above all take steps to make the change when necessary. I know that sudden change can make you lose your focus, always put your trust and faith in God Almighty he is a great shepherd. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” – Proverbs.

Why it is Important to Measure Your Progress

Motivational Quotes

To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe.” – Anatole France.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.” – Serenity Prayer

Hillis.

You have to measure what you want more of” – Charles Coonradt. Self-improvement takes a lot of hard work. Writing, being productive, managing your finances and improving your social life, all of these
pursuits take a great deal of energy and time. They can also be a little overwhelming and they all need to be measured to ascertain your progress.

Life is not static, it is dynamic. Things are always in motion. Life dictates that we grow and that all growth is from inside. Change is inevitable. The things we used to do five years ago cannot be done today. What was fashionable a few years ago is no longer fashionable now. This therefore, demands that you measure your progress every step of the way, if you have to keep up with life. Many of us have remained behind and are just moving with the wind. They say time waits for no one.

If you want to succeed you need to develop habits that will help you achieve your objectives. Now, I would not consider my self as  successful, but I know that am on the right track and path. Although, I still remain a very much work in progress in many aspects of my life I equally have made great success in some other aspects of which am very happy and proud of. It is very important that we learn how to measure and monitor our progression in life. In doing so we must also bear in mind that we are living our own race and are not in competition with anyone. This is very important.

Many of the times, people end up taking short cuts and find themselves in an wanted situations. It is not good to cut corners in life. One of the people I was privileged to have met and I thank God for bringing him in my life, was an engineer. I met this man for a few years but oh the wisdom he shared with me was very valuable. He became a father like figure to me even though we met on a professional level. The man always used to encourage me to do the right things and never cut corners because life has a way of catching up.

He shared with me his personal life experiences and you could see that even in his advanced age he had nothing to hide. From him I learnt that those who live to enjoy life are those who do the right the things all the time, even when it is not fashionable amongst their peers.

If you have to be successful at what ever you do, it is very important that you learn how to measure your progress. Knowing how to measure ones progress in life is one of the yards sticks of achieving your goals. This however, is not taught in schools. Yet, measuring progress is the norm at school and often times the teacher will give you a test. The purpose of the examination is to gauge the progress of the learners. It even gets worse when you attend tertiary institutions were you cannot proceed to the next semester without passing exams.

I believe that we need to change our educational system to start teaching learners how to be successful and not just for the sake of acquiring knowledge. Success principles must be included as put of our school curriculum. “Success has always been easy to measure. It’s the distance between one’s origins and one’s final achievement” – Michael Korda.

With the demands of life what has helped me greatly is to know how to measure my progress. Measuring my progress has more benefits in helping me be the right track. It helps me to be more efficient on my productivity; am more organised as I keep reviewing my performances regularly; I get more and more organised. Right now I have become a little more efficient on my article writing because I jot down my ideas as they pop up. This efficiency is largely due to reviewing my progress on a regular basis.

If you critically think about it. Your natural inclination is always to improve. How then do you know where you are going without keeping score of your progress? If you were to keep a scoresheet on the five things that would advance your personal and professional objectives the most, imagine how motivated you would be each time the numbers improved in your favour.

Conclusion

Remember, a real decision is measured by the fact that you’ve taken new action. If there’s no action, you haven’t truly decided” – Tony Robbins. Decide where you need to keep score in order to manifest your vision and achieve your goals. Make sure to keep measuring your progress in all the areas of your life.
